Sewer Operator Needed in Camarillo, CA

Industry: Medical Devices

Schedule: Monday - Friday 5:30am - 2:00pm (occasional overtime and Saturdays) - Flexibility required.

Pay rate: $19/hour

Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled Sewing Machine Operator to manufacture high-quality radiation protection aprons used in medical and industrial environments. The ideal candidate will have experience operating industrial sewing machines and working with heavy or specialty materials, ensuring products meet safety, durability, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

* Operate industrial sewing machines (single-needle, walking foot, or specialized machines) to assemble radiation protection aprons

* Sew and assemble multilayer materials, including lead or lead-free radiation shielding, vinyl, nylon, or coated fabrics

* Read and follow work orders, patterns, and technical specifications

* Measure, cut, and align materials accurately to ensure proper fit and coverage

* Inspect finished products for stitching accuracy, strength, and overall quality

* Repair or rework aprons as needed to meet quality and safety requirements

* Maintain a clean and organized work area

* Perform basic machine maintenance and report mechanical issues

* Follow workplace safety guidelines, including proper handling of radiation shielding materials

Required Qualifications

* High school diploma or equivalent preferred

* Proven experience as a sewing machine operator, preferably with industrial machines

* Ability to sew heavy or thick materials with precision

* Strong attention to detail and quality control

* Ability to read measurements and follow production instructions

* Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience sewing medical garments or protective equipment

* Familiarity with lead or lead-free radiation shielding materials

* Knowledge of quality standards for medical or safety products

* Ability to work in a production or manufacturing environment

* Hard-working, dependable, long-term minded and friendly
